A collection of things, old and new, that have sparked joy this season
There’s something about the extremes of weather that elicits my strongest memories surrounding scent. I’ve never lived outside California, but pine trees, log fires, and spicy, warm aromas punctuate even the mildest winter day. Perhaps just as appealing are the smells I associate with summer. Sunscreen acts as a base note for everything else - sticky watermelon, chlorinated hair, sand-sugared skin from a day at the beach. I lean in the most to scents that feel nostalgic, simple, and joy-inducing.
